quit smoking help

There is a lot of quit smoking help available on the market today but they can mostly be categorized as either pharmaceuticals or nicotine replacement therapies. What both pharmaceuticals and NRT have in common is that they are produced by the world’s biggest drug companies. Now call me a conspiracy theorist but I’d don’t believe that these companies are creating quit smoking aids for the benefit of humanity. They are huge companies with a crowd of shareholders to keep happy after all.

For this reason I was always wary of using drugs when I attempted to quit smoking, of course in the end I was using an electronic cigarette, so you could say I’m slightly crazy. The thing is, I’ve recently been hearing about all the nasty side affects caused by one quit smoking aid drug in particular known as Champix.

Champix has been a phenomenal success since it was introduced to the market, with an incredible 9 million people using it as a quit smoking aid and the drug raking in almost $900 million for Pfizer in its first year on the market. However, in the 12 months there have been a number of alarming reports about users suffering from severe depression and even suicides while taking the drug.

Pfizer denies any relationship between the drug and the psychological problems suffered by users, it says that “Quitting smoking, with or without treatment, is associated with nicotine withdrawal symptoms and the exacerbation of underlying psychiatric illness”.

Electronic Cigarette can be used as an alternative to a cigarette, and fulfill your psychological needs of smoking, by allowing you to blow out smoke-like water vapor. Electronic Cigarette is not a smoking cessation device, and has not been medically proven to help users quit smoking. Electronic cigarettes also look, feel and even taste like regular cigarettes, but are far superior because they are by and large safer than tobacco products.

The choice is yours if you want to use these products but I’m glad I decided to give them a miss and stick with my trusty e cigarette and my copy of “The Easy Way to Quit Smoking”.

is addiction real

Addiction to opiates is not a new problem in our society. This malpractice is prevalent for quiet a long period of time. Previously, addiction to drugs was considered as a disease, sometimes physical and sometimes mental, it was sometimes regarded spiritual. As a result, the addicts were treated that way; either they were sent to mental hospitals or exorcism was done on them. The net result was zero, moreover in some cases the addicted person died. People were even sent to prison because of this addiction. Opiate addiction still prevails in our society, only its mode of consumption has changed. Nowadays, people use the most sophisticated form of opiate addiction – the painkillers.

Opiates, when consumed affect a certain region of the brain which produces the feeling of pleasure. Excess consumption of opiates causes euphoria and gives a heightened effect. These effects draw people towards it. This is not the only effect of the opiates; its consumption ceases function of some parts of brain temporarily. As a result, people do not feel sadness or depression after taking opiates. This is the cause of opiate addiction for people suffering from depression, low self esteem or any other mental problem. People suffering from low self confidence find it the easier way to express their feelings and views, which they cannot do when they are normal.

As for the painkiller addicts, they feel acute pain and suffer from insomnia when they do not get their daily dosage. Even if any ailment does not exist, the addicts feel pain; this is totally psychological.

With the advancement of opiate addiction methods, the opiate addiction treatment has also improved. Well known rehabs have grown up all over the world to cure the addicts. One such rehab which lies among the topmost rehabs is the Drug Rehab Sunset Malibu. The treatment procedures conducted in here by the expert medical staffs are very effective. Also, the environment of this rehab is mind soothing, which is a very important factor for curing an addict. A soothing and calm environment is needed to give the patients comfort and peace of mind during the painful rehabilitation process. During the treatment, the opiate withdrawal symptoms show up which are just intolerable for the patients. A calm and peaceful environment helps the patient to fight with the pain of the withdrawal effects.

Apart from the high class treatment and comfort, group discussions and counseling are also held. Through this counseling process the addict’s mental condition is evaluated and it is decided whether the addict is fit to go back to his normal life or not. Many people think that they can leave their painkiller addiction by themselves, when they do not take their dosage for a day or two; the withdrawal effects show their real face. Being unable to tolerate it, people get back to their addiction to painkillers again.

People suffering from opiate addiction should not keep it a secret. They should consult it with people, whom they trust or any doctor for proper treatment.

Sunset Malibu is a luxury alcohol and prescription drug addiction located in Malibu, California. For further details about Sunset’s treatment strategies, accommodations, or other general facts on opiate detox and rapid detox.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is simply the quickest and most effective way to deal with doubts, obstacles, triggers, cravings, concerns, and emotions that most people who are quitting smoking have to deal with. Not only does EFT help make the transition to non-smoker easier, it better equips ex-smokers to deal with any stressful situations that may cause a relapse.

EFT was founded by Gary Craig, a Stanford Engineer, Ordained Minister and Personal Performance Coach. You can download a free how-to manual from his website (www.emofree.com). EFT is simply emotional acupuncture without the needles. Our bodies are made up of subtle energies. When negative emotions are present, it’s simply a disruption of the bodies energy system. With EFT you stimulate certain meridian points by tapping on them, and it tends to balance the energy flow in our body. EFT is simple to learn, gentle and easy to use, can be used anywhere, only take minutes, and has such great results.

Here are the EFT basic steps to Stop Smoking:
1. Write down all doubts, triggers, emotions, obstacles, and concerns you have about quitting smoking? (I doubt that I can quit smoking or quitting smoking is too stressful)

2. Evaluate the intensity level of each issue or emotion on a 1 to 10 scale (10 being the most). (Doubt – 8, Stress – 7)

3. Set up the affirmation and reminder phrase starting with the most intense issue first.

Affirmation – Even though I doubt I can quit smoking, I deeply and completely accept myself, or Even though I think quitting smoking will be too stressful, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Reminder phrase – My doubts about quitting smoking and My stressful feelings about quitting smoking.

4. Begin tapping lightly on the following meridian points on one side of your body using your index finger and middle finger with either hand, as you speak the phrases out loud. (To view a chart of the tapping points go to www.mindbodytapping.com)

  • Karate Chop – “Even though I doubt I can quit smoking, I deeply and completely accept myself.” (Repeat 3 times).
  • Eye Brow (Beginning of your eye brow near the top of your nose) – “My doubts about quitting smoking”
  • Side of the eye – “I doubt I can quit smoking”
  • Below the eye – “My doubts about quitting smoking”
  • Under the nose – “Doubt I can quit smoking”
  • Middle of the chin – “All the other things I have tried did not work”
  • Under the collarbone – “I really just doubt I can quit smoking”
  • Under the armpit – “My doubts about quitting smoking”
  • Top of the head – “Doubt I can quit smoking”

    5. Take a deep breath.

    6. Re-evaluate the intensity level of the issue using the 1 to 10 scale.

    7. Tap a second round (Continue tapping as many rounds as you need to reduce the intensity level of the issue below a 3).

    8. Move onto the next emotion or issue startingwith the Evaluation #2.

    9. Once you have removed all of your doubts, fears, concerns, and obstacles, you are ready to quit smoking. 10. For the first few weeks, use EFT at least three times each day to deal with any emotions,or issues that come up.

Perhaps the fear of weight gain is the most worrisome side effect of all. On average a person who quits smoking will gain ten pounds. A good multivitamin can help offset some of your withdrawal symptoms. Consider adding one to your daily routine at least for the first few weeks.

Remember, today’s market is a treasure trove of nicotine replacement aids. You can find one that will work for you in the form of gum, patch, lozenges, inhalers or sprays.  They have been proven to work so research and find the one that will help you break your nicotine addiction and ease the stop smoking side effects. The withdrawal period when your quit smoking is temporary so get all the help you can.
