Quit smoking?

Ok here is the skivy. I smoked from about 17-20 not all the time but i would have maybe 2 a day, so i guess you can say i was a casual smoker. Well then when i met my x-husband he made me quite, so i did cold turkey. No pills, gum nothing. Then about a year ago i started back up around the time i was going threw my divorce. So now i’m 26 and its been about a year since i started again. Again i’m still a casual smoker, but i prob. go threw about 10 of them when i’m out drinking. Not smoking during the day or when i’m sitting at home is not an issue, thou when i do have a stressful day i’ll light one up, but its just this bad habit when i’m out having a few that i want to stop all together! I know some of you may say stop drinking, but its not like i go out every night, its just maybe one day a week, and then maybe once on the weekend. So i’m wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what i can do with out taken over the counter meds or contacing my doc to quite! Thanks

Put a single bead on an elastic thread and tie it to your wrist. when you get a craving snap it on the wrist bone. Worked for me! I’m not kidding! The snap is enough ouch to get you to think about something else (the minor pain in your wristbone) enough time that the craving will pass.

Smoking is an addiction; the nicotine is an addictive drug and makes it hard to quit but not impossible. Probably you made 3, 4 tries or more and you couldn’t stop yet, it becomes more and more difficult.

If you desire to quit, you can quit, I think your desire and the force of your will that will decide your success or not.Medical experts have shown that you can have better results, if you have help. There are many ways to get support.

Tell your family, friends, coworkers that you want to quit and want their support. Don’t let people to discourage you, saying to you, it will never happen. Tell them don’t smoke in your home or leave cigarettes out. If you can’t tell others not to smoke, then you don’t have to sit with them while they do. If necessary avoid the situations by going for a walk, enjoying and spending time with non-smoking friends, just for the first 15 days of quitting.

Avoid the temptation to smoke. Tobacco use causes heart problems, lung cancer, cancer of the larynx, mouth, throat, esophagus, intestines, bladder, kidney, pancreas, dental problems and stomach ulcers. Medications can help you stop smoking and lessen the urge to smoke. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved four medications to help you quit smoking:

A. Nicotine gum-Available over-the-counter.

B. Nicotine inhaler-Available by prescription.

C. Nicotine nasal spray-Available by prescription.

D. Nicotine patch-Available by prescription and over-the-counter.

Some people use Hypnosis to quit the habit of smoking. Perhaps You may wonder just what are the best, talk to your doctor or other health care provider before taking medications.

Women who smoke increase the risk to get lung cancer than women who have never smoked. Pregnant women who quit smoking protect your baby’s health and your own.

Don’t give up, be positive, Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Have you ever had anyone tell you that it was easy to quit smoking? Those people either are not smokers themselves, or they just forget what they had to go through. Now I’m not saying that there aren’t those out there that quit smoking without any real difficulty, but you and I both know that there are far more people that have problems, sometimes major problems, when they decide to quit smoking. Let’s face it, smoking is an addiction, and you can’t expect to just blow off an addiction without any problems. Here are the quit smoking side effects that I experienced and how I was able to get over them.

First I have to say that preparing yourself to quit is probably one of the most important things that you can do. You really need to make your mind up that you will be able to do it and that nothing is going to stop you. You should also plan on staying away from anything that might tempt you to get back into the habit for a while, at least until you are well on the road to recovery. When you first quit you can guarantee that your mind is going to try to convince you to grab another cigarette. This is one of the strangest things if you think about it. It’s your body forcing your brain to rationalize the fact that you need a cigarette, when you really don’t need one at all. I personally didn’t go through any side effects like sweating or shaking, but I know people that have. Perhaps they were already susceptible to these problems and the additional strain caused by quitting smoking just pushed them over that edge.

So when you plan to quit smoking make sure that you plan to quit for a lifetime. Don’t do the yo-yo back and forth, on and off the tobacco, this will only prolong the agony. When you quit, quit for good and make sure that everything that you have planed will only lead to your success.

One might have fantasized about the gorgeous women they ever laid their eyes on but if someone went ahead to conquer each and every such woman in an endless but a methodical quest then such an individual might be considered to be prone to sexual addiction. Though, it may not sound like a life threatening situation but the social and the psychological implications of this condition will make you think otherwise.

Sex addiction has a major difference than other types of addictions like alcohol or drug addiction as it involves the act of sex which is a normal activity that is performed regularly unlike consuming alcohol or drugs. However, sexual addiction is basically all about engaging in a relentless pursuit of sexual pleasure despite the knowledge of its consequence to oneself and others. However, one of the most effective ways to conquer sexual addiction is by counseling strategies like individual counseling, group counseling, counseling of the addict’s partner and couple counseling. The motive of these counseling sessions is to help not only the addict but also the partner or the spouse who faces trauma due to the addiction.

Prior to treatment a person caught in sexual addiction might perform sexual acts to feel safe, comfortable and accepted but it is one condition that separates an individual from everything in life that a person holds dear. And the only way one can break out from a situation that will destroy one’s social structure is by going through addiction recovery. While alcohol and drugs have to be bought, sex is a normal experience and this recovering from an addiction based on a routine act is difficult without help.
